Reading:

Philippians 2:5-8
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Hebrews 2:17
17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

Hebrews 4:14-15
14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points >>tempted<< as we are, yet without sin.

Devotional

Jesus did not arrive in power and comfort. He was wrapped in strips of cloth and laid in a stone feeding trough. He came fully human, entering into the mess and difficulty of ordinary life so that he could fully understand and redeem it. The same Jesus who passed through the heavens also passed through hunger, weariness, rejection, and grief. He is not a distant God who watches from afar. He is Emmanuel, God with us, acquainted with your struggle. Whatever you are carrying today, bring it to a high priest who has walked through human suffering and emerged victorious on your behalf.
