The Ministry of Presence | September 2nd, 2026

Reading:

2 Timothy 4:9-11
9 Be diligent to come to me quickly; 10 for Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed for Thessalonica—Crescens for Galatia, Titus for Dalmatia. 11 Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for ministry

Hebrews 13:5
5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Devotional:

Paul, writing his final words from a Roman prison awaiting execution, said simply: "Only Luke is with me." Luke did not offer eloquent speeches or grand solutions. He offered himself. This is the ministry of presence -- showing up when it costs you something, remaining when others have gone, and letting your nearness communicate what words cannot. God Himself models this for us, promising never to leave or forsake His children. Who in your life is sitting in a figurative prison of grief, illness, or despair right now? Be Luke for them today. Simply go. Simply stay.
