Devotional
After four hundred years of divine silence, the first words spoken by the authority of God into the New Testament era were these: "Do not be afraid." Heaven did not reopen with a rebuke. It reopened with reassurance. God knew what His people had endured. He knew the weight of Roman oppression, religious confusion, and spiritual weariness. And His first word to a frightened, trembling priest standing before an angel was a word of comfort. Whatever you are facing today, that same voice speaks to you. Fear is real, but God is greater!
