Philippians 2:5-11
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Psalm 2
1 Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, 3 “Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us. 4 He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision. 5 Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure: 6 “Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion.” 7 “I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. 8 Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession. 9 You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’ ” 10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear, And rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.

Devotional:

On Jesus' robe and thigh is written "King of Kings and Lord of Lords." This isn't just a title; it's a declaration of absolute authority. Every earthly ruler—past, present, and future—bows before Him. The soldiers mockingly called Him king while placing thorns on His head, never realizing their joke was truth. Pilate's sign declared Him "King of the Jews," but John corrects it: He's King of everything.

The question isn't whether Jesus is King, but whether He's YOUR King. Who sits on the throne of your heart today? Have you drifted into self-rule, wearing the crown yourself? Repentance means dethroning yourself and crowning Him again. Surrender every area—your plans, relationships, finances, future—to the rightful King. His rod of iron becomes a shepherd's staff for those who submit.

Challenge: Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart today and to reveal the areas of your life you struggle to surrender to King Jesus. Perhaps you can seek out a trusted friend, sibling or spouse to encourage you in this area of your life that Jesus is Lord and to trust Him!
