Do Not Trade What You Know for What You Do Not Know | August 20th, 2026

Reading:

Romans 5:3-4
3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope

Devotional:

Paul writes that tribulation produces perseverance, perseverance produces character, and character produces hope. Suffering is not wasted in the hands of God. It is curriculum. When trials come, the enemy's strategy is to make you trade the solid ground of what you know about God for the shifting sand of unanswered questions. You know the cross. You know the resurrection. You know that God did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all. These are not small things. They are the very foundation of your faith. Do not abandon what you know to be eternally true simply because you cannot yet see what is temporarily happening.

Reflection: What do you know to be true about God that you have been tempted to set aside during a current trial? How can the cross serve as your anchor point when circumstances feel uncertain? Make a list of five things you know to be true about God based on Scripture.
