Let Scripture, Not Circumstances, Define What You Believe About God | August 18th, 2026

Reading:

Philippians 4:8-9
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.

Devotional:

Paul instructs believers to fill their minds with what is true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and praiseworthy. This is not wishful thinking or the denial of hardship. It is a deliberate, disciplined redirection of the mind toward what God has already revealed.

When the storm rages, our circumstances will always tell us a story about God. The danger is that story is often false. The disciples concluded that Jesus did not care simply because He was asleep. But His silence was not indifference. Do not allow the noise of your trial to drown out the truth of God's Word. Run to Scripture before you run to conclusions.

Practical Application: Identify one lie the storm has whispered to you about God. Find one verse that directly contradicts that lie and write it somewhere visible this week.
