Know Your Enemy | August 24th, 2026

1 Peter 5:8-9
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 

The Christian life is not a passive one. Scripture calls us to be actively sober and vigilant because a real adversary is actively working against our faith. A lion does not announce its attack . It circles, waits, and strikes when prey is distracted or isolated. Satan operates with the same patience and precision.  He is a cunning, tireless deceiver who has studied human weakness since the garden. Sobriety here is not merely about alcohol or even substances but It is about clarity of mind, clarity of heart and a readiness for whatever may come! . Guard your thoughts. Stay alert. Your awareness is your first line of defense.

Reflection: In what areas of your life have you been spiritually drowsy or inattentive lately? What are the things right now that are causing you to get distracted from your time with the Lord? Pray through them, give them back to the Lord that you may seek first Him and His kingdom, which will give you greater clarity in the rest of your life!
