The Trinity at Work in the Impossible | September 23rd, 2026

Luke 1:34-37
34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”
35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing will be impossible.”

Philippians 2:5-8
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Genesis 18:14
14 Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.”

When Mary asked how she, a virgin, could conceive a son, Gabriel did not offer a scientific explanation. He pointed her to the work of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit would come upon her, the power of the Highest would overshadow her, and the Holy One to be born would be called the Son of God. What seemed biologically impossible was divinely orchestrated. The second person of the Trinity, who had always been God, willingly took on human form without surrendering his divine nature. When you face what appears to be an absolute impossibility, remember that the same triune God who authored the incarnation is actively at work in your situation.
Reflection: Where in your life do you need to be reminded of of God's Sovereignty? Remind your soul this week that God is in control and will bring about His plan as He desires.. and it will be good!
