Righteous in the Waiting | September 14th, 2026

Luke 1:5-7
5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. 6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. 7 But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well advanced in years.

Psalm 37:3-7 
3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. 6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday. 7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.

Zacharias and Elizabeth were described as righteous and blameless before God, yet they carried the weight of unanswered prayer for years. Their faithfulness did not dissolve under the pressure of disappointment. Barrenness did not produce bitterness. This is a profound witness to the sustaining power of God in seasons of waiting. Whatever promise you are waiting on God for today, do not allow the silence of unanswered prayer to become the seed of a bitter heart. Continue walking in obedience. Continue serving. God's silence is never God's absence. His delay is not always a no, sometimes it is a time to wait!
