The Song of the Obedient -- Praise Born from Surrender | September 25th, 2026

Luke 1:46-55
46 And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord,
    47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.
    48 For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant;
    For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.
    49 For He who is mighty has done great things for me,
          And holy is His name.
    50 And His mercy is on those who fear Him
    From generation to generation.
    51 He has shown strength with His arm;
    He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
    52 He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
    And exalted the lowly.
    53 He has filled the hungry with good things,
    And the rich He has sent away empty.
    54 He has helped His servant Israel,
    In remembrance of His mercy,
    55 As He spoke to our fathers,
    To Abraham and to his seed forever.”
56 And Mary remained with her about three months, and returned to her house.

Psalm 34:1-3
    1      I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
    2      My soul shall make its boast in the LORD;
    The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
    3      Oh, magnify the LORD with me,
    And let us exalt His name together.

Mary's song was not born in a moment of ease. It arose from a place of complete surrender, social uncertainty, and profound faith. She magnified the Lord not because everything made sense, but because she knew the character of the God she served. She rehearsed his strength, his mercy, his justice, and his faithfulness to every generation. Her praise was rooted in Scripture -- in the promises made to Abraham, in the songs of Hannah, in the declarations of the Psalms. When we fill our hearts with the word of God, praise becomes our natural response even in the middle of the difficult and the unknown. Obedience and worship are not separate acts. For Mary, they were one.
