From Reproach to Rejoicing - The Mercy of God That Transforms | September 28th, 2026

Luke 1:57-58
57 Now Elizabeth’s full time came for her to be delivered, and she brought forth a son. 58 When her neighbors and relatives heard how the Lord had shown great mercy to her, they rejoiced with her.

Ephesians 2:4-5
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)

God's mercy is not merely the withholding of punishment. It is the active movement of a loving God who reaches into an unpleasant condition and carries his people into a pleasant one. Elizabeth endured years of cultural shame and personal grief in her barrenness. Yet God remembered her. What others saw as evidence of God's neglect was, in God's economy, preparation for a moment of extraordinary grace. Consider the areas of your life where shame or disappointment has lingered. God has not forgotten you. His mercy is not slow -- it is precise, purposeful, and personal. Where reproach once lived, his grace can cause rejoicing to flourish.
