What does it mean to have an enemy we cannot see, one who has been operating since the very beginning of human history? In this study rooted in 1 Peter 5:8-9, we are called to take seriously the reality of spiritual opposition in our lives. The passage paints a striking image of a roaring lion prowling and seeking prey, and we are challenged to understand what that looks like in our everyday walk of faith. We explore how our adversary operates not through brute force but through something far more subtle and dangerous: deception. From the garden of Eden to the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness, we see the same tactics at work across the ages. Lies dressed as truth, pride disguised as wisdom, and doubt planted in the soil of a mind not fully anchored in God's word. The parallel between Eve's encounter with the serpent and Jesus's response in the wilderness is especially illuminating. Eve engaged, wavered, and was deceived. Jesus responded with 'it is written' and stood firm. The contrast invites us to ask ourselves which pattern we are following. This is not a message meant to frighten us but to sharpen us, to help us recognize the roar before the lion gets too close.
