This magnificent truth means death has lost its sting for believers. The "first resurrection" encompasses Christ's resurrection, the rapture of the church, and the tribulation martyrs—all who die in faith will receive glorified bodies like Christ's. This isn't wishful thinking; it's God's promise.

An amazing truth for us to grasp is this: God made us to have a body, it glorifies God. The Body is not "bad" but is the vehicle which we express ourselves in creation. The fact that Jesus was raised bodily and will raise us bodily tells us that what we do with our bodies and how we live in our bodies matter. God has made us Body, Soul and Spirit. And one day we will be FULLY redeemed through he resurrection of the saints.

Challenge: "Born twice, die once; born once, die twice." Your natural birth brought you into this world, but have you experienced the second birth—being born again in Christ? Only those born again escape the second death. Accept the Lord Jesus if you have not yet! And if you have, glorify God in your body looking forward to having this glorified body like Christ! And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5 They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. 6 We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

Acts 17:10-12
10 Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. 12 Therefore many of them believed, and also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well as men.

Devotional:

The false prophet deceived multitudes through signs and false promises, leading them to worship the Antichrist. Deception contains enough truth to seem believable but enough error to be destructive. Jesus warned that even the elect could be deceived if possible. How do we guard against this? By testing everything through God's Word. The Bereans were commended for examining Scripture daily to verify what they heard. Are you passively absorbing cultural values, or actively filtering them through biblical truth? Don't rely solely on feelings or experiences. Know the Bible deeply enough to recognize counterfeits.

Challenge: Ask the Holy Spirit to be the umpire of your heart, calling out what contradicts God's truth. Paul pressed forward with singular focus: to know Christ and become more like Him. We are not saved by good works but we have been saved TO DO good work—the work of sanctification, becoming progressively more like Jesus. This is our goal: Christlikeness in every area of life. Don't be discouraged by how far you have to go; even Paul said he hadn't arrived yet. The Christian life isn't about perfection but direction.

Are you pressing forward or looking back? Forget what's behind—past failures and sins confessed are covered by Christ's blood. Set your eyes on Jesus and take one step forward today. Growth happens through knowing Him in His Word, communing with Him in prayer, and walking in the Spirit's power!

For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed , 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. 27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.

Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace you have been >>saved<< through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Devotional:

Justification means God declares us righteous—not because we are innocent, but because Jesus took our place. It's "just as if I'd never sinned." This isn't based on our performance but on Christ's perfect sacrifice. When we place our faith in Jesus, God sees us clothed in Christ's righteousness. This truth should flood our hearts with joy and security. You don't have to work to earn God's love; you already have it through faith.

Your bad week, your failures, your struggles don't change your justified status before God. Stop measuring your salvation by your performance. Instead, rest in the unchanging truth that you are saved by grace through faith. Let this ground of certainty fill you with unshakeable joy today.

For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe.

2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation! 3 For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no >>confidence<< in the flesh, 4 though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: 5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; 6 concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. 8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

Devotional:

Paul reminds us that our salvation rests not on our achievements, credentials, or religious pedigree, but solely on Christ. Everything we once counted as gain—our accomplishments, our reputation, our good works—is worthless compared to knowing Jesus. Paul considered his impressive résumé as "rubbish" when weighed against the surpassing worth of Christ. This is the foundation of joy: we are saved not by what we do, but by what Christ has done.

Today, examine what you're trusting in for your standing before God. Are you relying on your own righteousness or Christ's? Lay down your self-effort and rest fully in the finished work of Jesus. True joy begins when we stop trying to earn what has already been freely given.
